When our Rotary Club undertook this fundraising effort, we suspected that many people felt as we do about the history and future of the Star atop Mt. Tom.
However, we did not in our wildest dreams imagine that the outpouring of support would be so huge.

Well, here we are in 2024 and the Woodstock Rotary Club’s fundraising efforts to “Save the Mt. Tom Star”, which was lunched on November 5, has received extraordinary support, far surpassing our goal of $120,000.

The actual work to take apart and haul away the old structure and get the steel and other materials to the top of Mt. Tom for the actual rebuild to begin will take place in late spring once the trail has firmed up.

Our Club plans to hold a ceremonial “relighting” of the Star, probably on the Green, when all of the work is completed.
The plaque with all of our tiered $500 and over donors will also be revealed and placed on Mt. Tom at the base of the new Star.
We will advertise that date when it is determined.

Once of the rebuild and re-electrification is done, and the plaque in place, any surplus fundraising monies will be applied to its future maintenance.

We thank each and every donor for their generous support of this project which advertises to all who visit or live here just how much of a “community” we are whether our hearts are near or afar.
